Extravaganza for Flute and Piano

£10.00

Description

Instrumentation: Flute, Piano

Written for the same flautist for whom I composed Chanson and Reverie, this piece is designed to showcase the player’s articulation within a lively setting.

There are two main ideas: the first is presented immediately and serves also as a sort of chorus; the second begins in bar 15 and features a more modal tonality.

There are changes of time signature between these sections – from 4/4 to 6/8 but, within the sections, there is widespread use of syncopation and, in the 4/4 passages, triplets.

There are challenges here for both the flautist and pianist and it has been used with success as an encore!

If the given tempo cannot be achieved, simply play it as quickly as possible!
