Description

This variable arrangement stems from another rediscovery of some music while sorting through files. It was originally entitledĀ Two Cumberland Reels, but, as the second tune is a Jig, I have modified that title. The first melody is very well-known, beingĀ D’Ye ken John Peel? The second, for some reason is called The Cumberland Reel.

The arrangement is scored, as usual, for Flutes 1 & 2, Clarinet in C / Bb, Violin, Accordion / Piano / Guitar and Bass, but these can be modified to accommodate the resources available.

There should be a marked change of tempo when moving to the second melody and, in performance, each melody could be repeated or, for greater variety, they could be performed alternately.

The music is suitable for School Concert or as part of a GCSE Ensemble submission, provided that any rules n doubling of parts is followed.
