Three Irish Jigs

Categories: ,

Instrumentation: Flute 1, Flute 2, Flute 3 / Descant Recorder 1, Flute 4 / Descant Recorder 2, Bb Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Violin 1, Violin 2, Violin 3, Accordion (Piano / Guitar), Bass

These are examples of jigs I have played since my introduction to folk music back in 1976. They have been played by folk groups I have run in all schools since then and this arrangement was made early in my time at what was to be my final teaching post. It was written at a time when the aim was to involve as many instrumentalists as would like to come and experience this style of music (an approach I maintained throughout my career), hence the range of easier parts and the inclusion of an alto saxophone part!

If considered too difficult to play at the recorded tempo, a slightly slower one can be adopted.
