Description

Instrumentation: Flute 1, Flute 2 / Descant Recorder, Clarinet in Bb, Violin, Accordion / Piano / Guitar and Bass.

These Anglo-American Reels rely on their syncopated rhythms against a steady bass. They were written during the 1980s and I have arranged them for what has become my ‘standard’ line-up: a variable ensemble, making them suitable for performance by a variety of instrumental combinations, including, obviously, a Ceilidh Band, but also an instrumental Folk Band as well as ensemble groups within KS4 / GCSE, where their versatile scoring makes them eminently suitable for classroom and / or examination use.

As each of these tunes is 32 bars long, there will be some dances where it be necessary to play each one twice or even more.
