The Seven Joys of Mary

Categories: ,

An arrangement for SATB, flute and piano

This uses the traditional melody and words to re-interpret this carol with changing harmonies, textures and moods. The well-known melody is always prominent but is surrounded by varying counter melodies and harmonies and a regular flute descant.

After the instrumental introduction, flute and piano regularly provide short linking phrases between the verses, thus affording the singers some breathing space!

Each part of the choir sings the melody at different points during the seven verses and the piece builds to a fitting climax.
