Instrumentation: standard Wind Band

This is an arrangement of a medieval carol, used both at Christmas and at Harvest. It is written using a modal scale and, therefore, sounds a little strange in places to ears more used to major or minor scales.

It opens with the traditional version of this melody before giving a march-like feel and then changing metre for a section in compound time (letter D) – the pulse should be kept the same at this point. Similar treatment should be afforded the return to 4/4 at letter F.

This should form a somewhat unusual, but attractive, item in a Christmas Concert.
