Gilbert and Sullivan: a fourth set of memorable melodies

This orchestral arrangement is derived from my earlier Wind Band arrangement, one of five I complete during my time at my final school. Opening with music from The Sorcerer, it includes music from Iolanthe before concluding with music from The Mikado  and presents a few challenges for the players.

It is scored for Flutes 1, 2 & 3, Oboe, Clarinets in Bb 1, 2 & 3, Bassoon, Soprano, Alto and Tenor Saxophone, Trumpets in Bb 1 & 2, French Horn, Tenor Horn, Euphonium, Trombone, Tuba, Timpani, Drum Kit, Violins I & II, Viola, ‘Cello and Double Bass. Some examples of doubling mean that not all of these instruments are essential for a successful performance. The download contains a full score, individual parts and a compete recording via Sibelius.

Along with my other such arrangements of G & S melodies, this was very popular with players and audiences. As it is quite a long piece, it is possible to halt at one of the climaxes and then play the rest as either a separate item or as an encore!
