Rakes of Marlowe

Categories: , ,

I came across this traditional folk tune early on during my introduction to this genre; at one stage, we met up with a group from overseas and they taught us the version which uses just the chords of G and F, rather than the original G, Am and D.

This is an adaptable arrangement and I have included a part for Clarinet in C alongside the Clarinet in Bb, thus making adaptation easier.

Several accompanying figures are added, including part of the traditional Morris dance, “Vandals of Hammerwich”, which fits with the opening phrase.

It is a lively reel used as dance music – enjoy!
