These three jigs were written following a truly memorable holiday in Ennerdale in the Lake District. It was an area which neither my wife nor I had visited before and we had, as additional company, an 11 month-old puppy.

We walked for miles and, of course, the dog walked even further, usually being absolutely shattered by the end of the day – but raring to go again the next morning!

We stayed in Ennerdale Bridge at the Tom Butt cottage and had a wonderful walk one particular day, which took in Raven Crag: thus, the titles for the tunes were easy!

I hope you will enjoy not only the tunes but also their arrangements. The scoring consists of three main lines, melody, chords plus bass and other available instruments can be assigned to the various lines as best fits the available resources.

While primarily written as dance tunes, this arrangement would also be useful as a GCSE Ensemble submission, ensuring that the selection of parts avoided too much doubling.
