These three waltz tunes were composed on separate occasions in 2000 – 2001. Two of them reflect my penchant for modal music.
The arrangement is for the folk band line-up common to most of my arrangements in this category, i.e. Flute 1, Flute 2 / Descant Recorder, Clarinet in Bb, Violin, Accordion / Piano / Guitar and Bass. As always, the instruments are interchangeable and the minimum requirement is melody (always in the Accordion line) and chords (also shown in this part.) There are various countermelodies added and a simple bass line.
A gentle waltz tempo is required and the waltzes do form a pleasant set.
As well as for Ceilidhs or for other occasions where a waltz might be danced, the music is of a standard approachable by many school musicians, whether at KS3 or GCSE, where it can form the basis of an ensemble performance.
