This is a Wind band arrangement of what is, I believe, a Bavarian drinking song. It was written for the band at the school where I taught in the North-East for 22 years and was always very popular with players and audiences. For this version, I have added a couple of extra instruments to bring it more in line with other music in this category but, of course, arrangements for School Wind Bands are done for the current line-up and, if necessary, revised as and when necessary.

In performance, the opening 40 bars, repeated after the contrasting middle section was played while the performers swayed in time to the music, right and left on the first beat of each bar. We refined this so that the band were in arranged in three or four lines across and, for example, the first and third lines swayed right then left while the second and fourth rows sways left then right! Try it!
