This is a simple arrangement, for a wide range of instruments, of this traditional American reel. The rhythms are simple, the musical ideas repetitive. Although “school” instrumentation from different periods is suggested, each line can be played by just about any available instrument. The aim is to provide a fairly simple introduction to ensemble playing at KS3, notably in Year 7. It is also to be found under “Folk Band” as, of course, if is folk music.

Two versions are given of several lines – marked A and B – with the ‘B’ version having letter-names added. To further add to its adaptability, the pitch of some lines can be adjusted by an octave, higher – in the case of the melody – or lower – in the case of the part labelled Xylophone A or B, intended to be a simple bass line.
